Mindfully engaging for social and climate transition
This event, titled “How Meditative Practices Can Support Climate Action,” took place during the Klimatosaugos briaunos 2023 (Edges of Climate Protection 2023) conference, the second edition organized by the VU Climate Change Group, on November 17, 2023. Hosted at Vilnius University, the event brought together researchers, students, and professionals committed to combating climate change.

Justas Kažys explored how mindfulness practices can influence pro-environmental behavior. He emphasized their role in strengthening the connection with nature and aiding emotional regulation in the face of climate crises.

Mindfulness contributes to adopting sustainable behaviors by improving the management of emotions and thoughts (Wamsler, 2022).
The Mindfulness Practices for Students in Society (MP4s) project was introduced as an initiative to integrate mindfulness practices into universities to promote eco-responsible behavior.
The presentation highlighted the importance of introducing mindfulness-based programs into policymaker training, drawing inspiration from initiatives in the UK Parliament.
